....they would not attack anything else until after the US election. That would give Kerry a better chance to win. Less and less people would believe that terrorism is still a threat. But with things like this train bombing it will only strengthen Bush's stance.

If they were smart they would wait and hope Kerry got elected then they could bomb the hell out of everyone and not have to fear a retaliation. Who knows, if they got lucky enough to highjack Air Force one, Kerry would probably give them the deed to the whole US, in exchange for his life.

These attacks are not very smart if you ask me.

Then George could claim that wiping out entire countries beats terrorism, and then go and obliterate somewhere else...um, ok.

Those extremist idiots can only cause minor collateral damage compared with the whitehouse idiot who can stuff up entire regions in 3 weeks.

Its going to take decades to put Iraq back on its feet.
Current cash inputs for reconstruction from the US to the end of June 2004 amount to 1/80th of the GDP of Cuba.

Iraq is now a huge breeding ground for poverty and the political extremism that poverty spawns.

Outstanding George, outstanding.
A strategic genius.

I would think that they have their own agendas, depending on any particular splinter group of extremists.

GWB's re-election is irrelevant to them IMO.
They have very long term aims.

He would be gone in 5yrs tops anyway, whatever happens.

I do know that Al-Q wanted the US military out of Saudi.

Apart from that, to be honest I haven't actually heard much about what the extremists are actually after.

What annoys me is the complete destruction of Iraq has created another fertile recruiting ground for extremist martyrs.

I don't think terrorists give a rat's ass if a democrat or a republican is in the White House.

I have a better idea. Why don't the terrorists not kill any civilians at all. They do not care who is president or will be president. All what they want is the United States to stop supporting Isreal and for their presence to leave the Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Nevertheless, their cause became worse because they initiated 9/11 and now have to suffer the consequences for killing innocent U.S, spanish, and Isreali civilians.

If the U.S. stopped supporting Israel and pulled out of the Middle East, those little scumbags responsible for terrorist acts would find other "reasons" for attacking civilians. They need to be hunted down in the most relentless way.

I agree with you in that they are not gaining any support with these attacks. They are not instilling fear into anyone either. They are only succeeding in the unification of countries against their cause. The Muslim religion as a whole is the big loser in this. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of Muslims are not in support of these attacks by radical fruitcakes. There will be many innocents that will go down with these scumbags. That's why they need to help out with this situation.

You can kill as many as you want to, it won't change anything unless you nuke the entire middle east.

Thats why the israelis are building that huge concrete wall, they know that its a waste of time and they want a better solution.

Maybe we should all pitch in, get the damn thing finished and unass the middle east asap.

I aggree with you regrading this quote.

This entire war on terrorism will go on for many years to come. Look at the entire situation with the civil war that is going on in Columbia. When the army retaliates after the FARC has committed a terrorist act killing or kidnapping innocent civilians. The Columbian army receives criticism from Amnesty and the UN for abusing the terrorist's human rights.

The same goes for the United States with their retaliation against terrorists. The same world organization blames us for abusing the human rights just for defending our homeland.

Look at the situation with Chavez in Venezuela. This dictator is abusing the general public's human rights with going against what the Venezuelen constitution dictates about a recall to his presidency. He is taking the country into extreme poverty and giving free land that belonges to private citizens to the poor. If the venezuelens would assasinate this monster (chavez) then you will see Amnesty and the UN claim an abuse of the human rights for Chavez.

Amnesty and the UN have their priorities in the wrong place.

Noital: I agree with you wholeheartedly. I think, however, that Islamic terrorist groups look at the US as a whole nation of greed, immorality, etc. driven by capital consumption. So that in mind, it makes little difference to them if a republican or democrat wins the election (although Bin Laden personally probably takes greater issue with Bush.) Terrorism won't leave US soil until the US leaves MidEastern soil. Even then, it might well be too late for reparations.

Why do you think that? I think you're under-estimating the influence of the cultural hatred that is behind all this.

BTW...Terrorism has been going on in the U.S. for a while now. It's just that the terrorism the U.S. has experienced in the past was usually acted out by Americans themselves (Olympic bombing, Okla. City, Unabomber, product tampering, etc.). It won't ever go away, but it needs to be put in perspective.

I will concede that targetting Western culture was only a matter of time, but it would have been slowed by virtue of low(er) recruitment. The more the US (and others) assert their presence in the MidEast, the more easily this cultural hatred spreads.

You know, I can't help but think of the Pakistani guy (whose name escapes me right now) that sold those nuclear secrets to North Korea and Iran. It may only be a matter of time before some terrorist organisation gets their hands on one. I hate saying this, but the US will likely be the target ... human history may always have seen wars, but I don't think their magnitude will even come close to what we could be in for.

Or.....You could look at it the other way around...... The more that the western culture spreads in the middle east and the oppressed people get a taste of freedom, recruitment will lessen because people see a better way of life.

I think everyone of us on these message boards can atest to that.

QUOTE]

The U.S. asserting it's presence in the MidEast was triggered by 9/11. It's a shame that the whole Muslim world is sucked into a conflict such as this by what I feel is a few radical individuals, not representative of the Muslims as a whole by any means.

These terrorists are doomed. They attack out of hate. My nation defends itself out of love...love for family, love of fellow Americans, love of country. Love is stronger than hate. That's why the these scumbags are screwed. They'll never win this battle.

They're ready to die for "the cause"? So are Americans. No other people have been more willing to lay their lives on the line to defend their country and the freedom it stands for. Countless brave Americans have spilled their blood in defense of their beloved country and people. Some say that terrorism will never stop. My people will never stop fighting either. Except that Americans fight with strength that comes from love and moral decency, not evil. That's why these scumbags terrorists will never prevail. They have no moral grounding. They're f*cked.

American spirit and courage. They were just average American people who didn't even know each other on United Flight 93. When they found out what was happening, these brave Americans sacrificed themselves by resisting the armed highjackers, resulting in the plane never reaching it's intended target.

The world will never run out of terrorists and evil people.

The world will never run out of heros and good people either.

The heros and the good people will always greatly outnumber the evil people.

The bad guys can't and won't win in this one though, because the good guys are strong and the bad guys are waek. These terrorist groups are weak, desperate and pathetic. Desperate and pathetic to the point of attacking civilians...women, children, elderly...and sometimes committing suicide in the act. That's about as desperate and pathetic as one can get. Weak to the extreme.
